Sadaqah
The Charity That Purifies and Sustains
At Mission Relief, we believe that every act of kindness counts. Sadaqah is a voluntary form of charity that purifies your wealth, strengthens your faith, and supports those in need. Whether you choose to give once, regularly, or through a lasting project (Sadaqah Jariyah), your contribution helps transform lives around the world.
“Sadaqah extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire.”(Tirmidhi)
What Is Sadaqah?
Sadaqah literally means “righteousness” and refers to the voluntary giving of charity. It reflects sincerity and compassion, giving for the sake of Allah SWT without expecting anything in return nor because it was an obligatory act.
Sadaqah can take many forms, from donating money to feeding the poor, helping a neighbour, a kind word or even a smile.
Giving Sadaqah is more than simply donating money, it’s about giving with a clean heart and sincere intention for the sake of Allah and to genuinely help those in need. Sadaqah is what makes the world go round, with millions of people in need around the world every day, we rely on the pure hearts of donors to remember them and support them, spreading mercy, restoring dignity, and sowing seeds of hope for generations to come.

Types of Sadaqah
- Sadaqah Jariyah (Ongoing Charity)
This is a continuous form of charity that continues to earn you a reward for as long as it goes on, even if you’ve passed away. For example, if you’ve built a well, you’ll get the reward of all those who drink from it for as long as the well exists. Or alternatively you can fund an orphans education, provide livelihood options for families in need or build a masjid and gain the reward of everyone who prays in it.
One of the most common forms of Sadaqah Jariyah is donating a water well in memory of a loved one. This beautiful act provides ongoing reward (ajr) for them in the Hereafter while transforming lives in this world. Through Mission Relief, your water well can support entire communities, up to 2,000 people, giving families access to clean, safe water in remote areas where it’s desperately needed. Every drop becomes a source of life, hope, and lasting reward.
- Regular Sadaqah (General Giving)
A simple and flexible way to give regularly, helping with food aid, healthcare, education, period poverty, emergency relief or whatever appeal resonates with you.
You can also set up a monthly Sadaqah, allowing you to make a consistent impact and to consistently reap the reward.
- Sadaqah for Protection and Blessings
The Prophet ﷺ taught that Sadaqah protects from calamity and invites barakah into one’s life.
Giving Sadaqah regularly is a shield, for your health, your family, and your sustenance. Some people also give Sadaqah to help increase the blessings in their life. A few examples of this could be giving Sadaqah for your parents, Sadaqah for illness, for marriage, for a job and more. Start with your intention before donating, for example:
“O’Allah, you are Al-Razaq and all rizq comes from you, you know how I am in need of a new job that provides for me and my family, with Sadaqah comes barakah so I’m donating to inshallah bring barakah and rizq my way in the halal.”
